Üst % 10'luk dilimde erkeklerin oranı kızlardan daha yüksek bulunmuştur ancak bu dilimde eyer alan kız ve erkek öğrencilerin ortalama puanları farklılaşmamıştır.; Gender differences in mathematical ability and its components were investigated. The study was conducted with 1978 sixth grade students who applied for admission to Anadolu University Research and Practice Center on High Ability Education from the year 2009 to 2015. The Test of Mathematical Talent was used to measure mathematical ability. Data analyses included gender differences in mathematical ability and its components and performance and proportional differences in the top 10% of ability. The results showed that boys were better in general mathematical ability and in some components, such as number series, numerical analogy, liner logic, conditional logic, algebra, numbers-measurement, statistics and probability, geometry and figurative rotation. Girls and boys had similar scores in figurative series and figurative analogy subtests. The ratio of boys in the top 10% of mathematical ability was bigger than the ratio of girls, however their mean scores did not differ significantly. The study reveals what subdomains of mathematical ability make a gender difference and that although the ratio of gifted boys in mathematics is bigger than that of gifted girls, their performance level is similar.

Araştırma bulguları YAZID tekniğinin sosyal geçerliğinin yüksek olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.; The CREACT is a creativity technique used to develop creative thinking. In the current study the social validity of the CREACT was investigated in thinking skills lessons. The research participants included 307 students who were attending 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in three schools in Eskisehir, Turkey. Four lesson plans were developed using the CREFenACT for thinking skills courses. Each lesson included a focus concept. The research lasted four weeks with one concept each week. Students were guided by the CREACT form to analyse and discuss the concepts to produce new ideas. A questionnaire was administered to students at the end of four weeks of CREACT instruction to find out students' perceptions about the use of CREACT in teaching thinking skills. The results showed high satisfactions with the use of the CREACT. Students' ratings were found significantly higher than the criteria of 4 (agreement). Eighth graders rated the questionnaire items the highest compared to the other grades. Findings show strong evidence in terms of the social validity or student acceptability of the CREACT.

Türkiye'de üstün yeteneklilerin eğitiminin son yıllarda dikkate değer düzeyde gelişmesine karşın tanımlardaki tutarsızlıklar, tanım ve uygulama arasındaki uyumsuzluk, ulusal tanılamalardaki yetersizlikler, program türlerinin yetersizliği, öğretmen niteliğinin düşüklüğü, program geliştirmede uzman yetersizliği ve üstün yeteneklilerin eğitimine karşı olan tutumlar gibi önemli bazı problemler hala çözüm beklemektedir; This article is a review and critics of gifted education in Turkey. Gifted education in Turkey has undergone dramatic changes in recent years. Innovations and regulations in the education of gifted and talented students have emerged and been formed as a result of a global agenda of the country. New steps such as the establishment of science high schools have been taken at specific critical point in history. With the beginning of the 21st century, the education of gifted students has gained momentum with the national strategic plan on gifted education and establishment of gifted education departments in universities. In the last fifteen years, the number of special programs and scientific publications has multiplied. Even though gifted education in Turkey has progressed notably over years, certain problems still remain unsolved, such as inconsistencies in definitions and contradictions between definitions and practices, inefficiency in nationwide identification, inadequate number of program types, recruitment of untrained teachers and lack of expertise in program development, and opposition against gifted education

Sak, Uğur
The purpose of this article is to review the Education Programs for Talented Students (EPTS) model by focusing on its social validity. The EPTS is a university-based, after-school program for talented students in elementary and secondary schools. It is a 6-component program model including identification, curriculum, instruction, assessment, program organization, and teacher training models. Research participants included 84 sixth, seventh and eighth grade students who were identified to be talented in mathematics and science by the EPTS identification system. The participants had attended the EPTS for one to five semesters. The EPTS Evaluations Student Form was used to investigate the social validity of the EPTS. Findings showed students' perceptions about the EPTS to be positive and higher than the criteria 3 (very good). That is, the EPTS has high social validity.
