The adolescence period is marked by the extensive use of vernacular variables and linguistic innovations. By means of this usage, adolescents try to show themselves to be different from other age groups. The linguistic variables used by adolescents at a given period of time may either continue to exist or be forgotten over a period of time. This research, as a follow up study, aims to investigate to what extent the linguistic variables which are used by adolescents in 1989 are still recognized by adolescents (aged 19 to 21), young adults (aged 25 to 31), and adults (aged 40 to 55), in 1999en_US
