One-dimensional cyano-bridged heterometallic (Cu/Ni and Cu/Pd) complexes with 1-ethylimidazole
Abstract
Two new cyano-bridged heteronuclear polymeric complexes, {[Cu(etim)(4)Ni(mu-CN)(2)(CN)(2)]center dot H2O}(n) (1) and [Cu(etim)(4)Pd(mu-CN)(2)(CN)(2)](n) (2) (etim = 1-ethylimidazole) were synthesized and characterized by FT-IR and Raman spectroscopies, thermal (TG. DIG and DTA) and elemental analyses and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. They crystallize in the triclinic system and P (1) over bar space group. The two compounds are isostructural, and their crystal structures are formed by quasi-linear chains exhibiting [-Cu(etim)(4)-mu-NC-M(CN)(2)-mu-CN-](n) composition. The Ni(II) or Pd(II) ions is four coordinate with four cyanide-carbon atoms in a square planar geometry and the Cu(II) ion exhibits a distorted octahedral coordination by four etim ligands and two bridging cyano groups
