A General Evaluation about the Medical Social Work in Turkey

Abstract

Türkiye'de, sosyal hizmet mesleğinin ilk uygulama alanlarından biri olan tıbbi sosyal hizmet, elli yıllık bir geçmişe dayanmaktadır. Fakat alanın gelişimi, bu sürece paralel bir şekilde gelişme gösterememiştir. Bu derleme çalışmasında, tıbbi sosyal hizmet alanındaki mevcut durum değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çerçevede öncelikle tıbbi sosyal hizmet alanına ilişkin bir giriş yapılmış, daha sonra tıbbi sosyal hizmet alanının gelişememe nedenleri tartışılmış ve son olarak Türkiye'de tıbbi sosyal hizmet alanının yapılandırılmasına yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur. Çalışmanın, tıbbi sosyal hizmet alanında var olan sorunları ortaya koyacağı ve bu sorunlara yönelik çözüm önerileri geliştirilmesi ile ilgili katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmüştür.

Medical social work, which is one of the first application field of social work profession in Turkey dates back to fifty years. However, the development of the field has not progressed in parallel with this process. This study aims to evaluation the current situation of medical social work. Within this framework, an introduction was preluded about medical social work briefly, then the reasons why medical social work could not develop have been examined, and finally advices were presented about the configuration of the medical social work in Turkey. The study is intended to reveal the existing problems of medical social work and contribute to the solutions of these problems.
