Evaluation of Students Works in Conceptual Art Practices
Abstract
When we look at today's art, pluralism and interdisciplinary state we face with, give us an opportunity to do works with different disciplines related to visual art. Since it is easy to access to information in this era, artists now have more opportunities, however, they have to renew themselves constantly in this fast transformation era. It is now really hard to make a definition of art because everything can be a subject of art while anything one can think of, can be a part of art. This research tried to reflect how students produce their art works by using conceptual art applications via different expression tools. This study was conducted with third grade students in Anadolu University Fine Arts Education Department, Graphic Design Main Art Workshop in 2012-2013 Fall Semester. It was practiced between October 4 and November 8 and 'Object Transformation' activity was conducted throughout the research. First, class discussions related to subject was made; later on art production conducted. Student works at the end of the research were analyzed by descriptive method. They were also analyzed in regards to their forms of expression and familiarity to the subject.
