Utilization of Magnesite Host Rocks in Wall Tile
Özet
The aim of this work is to search the usage of magnesite host rocks from the magnesite deposits of Eskisehir (Turkey) as a raw material in wall tile body. Two different magnesite host rock samples were characterized and added to body recipe in an increasing amount (2-10 % wt.) partially replaced with marble. All samples were sintered in an industrial type fast firing wall tile roller kiln at firing temperature and cycle of 1147 degrees C for 34 minute. The flexural strength, linear shrinkage and water absorption values of wall tiles were measured. The vitrification behaviour of wall tile bodies was evaluated using an optical non-contact dilatometer. As a result of this study, it has been shown that small quantities of magnesite host rocks can be utilized as alternative raw materials for production of wall tile.
