The first section was comprised of 18 statements related to motives of Spring Festival attendees. The second section of the questionnaire includes 6 items about festival satisfaction as a dependent variable. The third section was related with festival participant behavior and demographic characteristics of the respondents. The sample comprised of university students who attended “Spring Fest 2011” at a Turkish state university in province of Eskisehir. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses revealed four factors labeled as entertainment, escape, novelty and socialization. According to the results it was found that there was a significant relationship between motivational factors and festival satisfaction

The objective of this study was to compare the views of the local spectators concerning the effects of the Winter Universiade and the European Youth Olympic Festival, two mega sport events held in Turkey in 2011. The participating group was composed of 878 local spectators who watched the games. The Mega Event Impact Scale, developed by Jie and Yan (2010), was used as the data collection tool. Dimensions forming the scale were compared according to the demographic characteristics of the sample group in order to define the views of the local spectators on the effects of mega events. The results revealed significant differences in the sample group in relation to the demographical characteristics of gender, education, occupation and income status regarding the effects of the Winter Universiade and the European Youth Olympic Festival events. The monthly income of the local spectators who attended the events did not influence the effects perceived Sample group views on both positive and negative effects of these two events have high averages. In other words, positive and negative effects were detected in both the Winter Universiade held in Erzurum and the European Youth Olympic Festival held in Trabzon.

The objective of this study was to compare the views of spectators concerning the quality perception of the World Indoor Athletics Championships. The study group consisted of 568 spectators who watched the events. A measurement scale of event quality in spectator sports (SEQSS) developed by Ko et al. (2011) was used as a data collection tool in the study. In order to determine the views of the spectators concerning the quality of the Indoor Athletics Championships, the dimensions constituting the scale were compared according to the demographic features of the sample group. As a consequence, important differences in most of the dimensions of the scale were revealed with respect to the demographic data of the subjects. The most relevant finding of the study is that the dimension of "physical environment quality", which is one of the dimensions constituting the event quality, differed significantly in all comparisons that were made according to demographic features.

The aim of this study is to test if there are different qualities of serious leisure in a Turkish sample and to develop a valid and reliable serious and casual leisure measure (SCLM) using data from both casual and serious leisure participants. With the use of focus groups, an expert panel, a pilot study, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, a 9-factor model with 42 items demonstrated acceptable fit and reliability values. Besides six dimensions of serious leisure set out by Stebbins [(1982). Serious leisure: A conceptual statement. The Pacific Sociological Review, 25 (2), 251–272], two new qualities – personality congruence and sense of competence – not previously discussed in the serious leisure literature emerged in this study. In addition, durable benefits, one of the qualities of serious leisure, was divided into two interpretable factors and they were labelled as therapeutic benefits and psycho-social benefits
