Konya ili, Akşehir ilçesinde yapılan çalışmada 33 cinse ait 89 liken türü belirlenmiştir. Bu türlerden Staurothele frustulenta Vainio Türkiye Liken Florası için yeni kayıttır.; Eighty-nine lichen species belonging to 33 genera from Akşehir District of Konya were determined. Staurothele frustulenta Vainio is a new record for the lichen flora of Turkey.

Sündiken Dağları'nın saksikol, terrikol, muskikol liken ve likenikol mantar çeşitliliğine katkıda bulunmak üzere yapılan bu çalışmada 229 liken ve likenikol mantar taksonu bulunmuştur. Cercidospora crozalsiana, Immersaria usbekica, Rhizocarpon sublavatum, Scytinium biatorinum Türkiye'den ikinci kez kaydedilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile Eskişehir İli'nden kaydedilen liken ve likenikol mantarların sayısı 361'e ulaşmıştır; Diversity of saxicolous, terricolous, muscicolous lichenized and lichenicolous fungi of the SÜndiken Mountains was investigated and 229 infrageneric taxa were recorded. Cercidospora crozalsiana, Immersaria usbekica, Rhizocarpon sublavatum and Scytinium biatorinum are recorded for the second time from Turkey. With the data of this study, the number of lichenized and lichenicolus fungi taxa recorded in Eskişehir reached 361

Inactivation of bacterial activity on hides is necessary during brine curing and presoaking processes. Therefore, bactericidal effect of 0.02% quaternary ammonium compound containing didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride and benzyl dimethyl ammonium chloride on the mixed culture of Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus pumilus, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus intermedius, Pseudomonas luteola, Enterobacter cloacae and Vibrio fluvialis was examined in the test media containing 26% NaCl and organic substances by tube dilution method. In addition, the ability to grow of the mixed culture prepared from the test isolates was examined in the salt free Mueller Hinton Broth and in Mueller Hinton Broth containing 10%, 15% and 26% NaCl during 72 days. Bacterial count of the mixed culture in Mueller Hinton Broth containing 26% NaCl was found higher than those in the the salt free Mueller Hinton Broth media after 2,4 and 14 hours exposure times with the test agent. Our results showed that the test agent could be used in the brine solution where the salt slightly decreased effectiveness of the antibacterial agent. Additionally, it was observed that the isolates of the mixed culture were annihilated faster in the salt free Mueller Hinton Broth than the broth media containing different concentrations of NaCl. After the storage, bacterial counts in the Mueller Hinton Broth media containing different NaCl concentrations were not reduced to low levels. As a result, quaternary ammonium compound tested may be used in hide brine curing and presoaking processes to control Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial activities on hides. In addition, only NaCl application is not enough to control bacterial activity on hides.

On 4-transitivity in the Moufang plane

The purpose of this paper is to give a short proof of 4-transitivity in Moufang planes. This proof originated in the observation of the two first name authors that the standard Moufang identities, together with the identity (1) x~-1(y(xz)) = (x-1(yx)z, which is asserted in [2, p. 103] to hold in Cayley-Dickson division algebras, can be applied to give a particularly simple algebraic proof of the fact that the collineation group of a Moufang plane is transitive on four-points. Unfortunately, as pointed out by H. Karzel and demonstrated here in Proposition 1, (1) does not hold in Cayley-Dickson algebras. Nevertheless, the algebraic proof of transitivity remains valid after slight modifications and is given here as Theorem 1
