dc.description.abstract | Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic and antipyretic properties. A simple capillary zone electrophoretic method which can be applied to determine the content of nimesulide in tablets is described in this study. 1 second vacuum injection, 30 kV potential and 200 nm detection wavelength was applied to the system (L: 88.5 cm, 1: 58.5 cm). 10 mM borate buffer containing 10 percent ethanol at pH 8.10 was used as a background electrolyte. Salicylic acid was a good internal standard. Nimesulide and salicylic acid appeared at migration times of 8.1 and 11.5 minutes, respectively. Well-correlated calibration equation was obtained. The reproducibility and detection limit of the method was found to be 1 1.62 % and 3.04×10-6 M (S/N=3) nimesulide, respectively (n=5). The method was applied to the tablets containing 100 mg nimesulide and recovery was found to be 97.9 ± 0.8 %. Therefore it is a promising method for the determination of nimesulide in tablets. | en_US |
