İlköğretim Öğrencilerinin İdeal Öğretmen Algısı

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ilköğretim öğrencilerinin ideal öğretmenin sahip olması gereken özelliklerine ilişkin algılarını belirlemektir. Tarama modeli benimsenerek gerçekleştirilen araştırmanın katılımcılarını, 2010-2011 öğretim yılında Eskişehir Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü'ne bağlı ilköğretim okullarından sosyo-ekonomik düzeyi dikkate alınarak üst, orta ve alt sosyo-ekonomik düzeyden 2'şer olmak üzere seçilen 6 ilköğretim okulunun 5. ve 8. sınıflarında öğrenim gören 355 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Çalışmada veriler, açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan anket yoluyla toplanmış; anket formunda öğrencilerle ilgili kişisel bilgilerle ilgili sorular ile "İdeal bir öğretmenin kişisel ve mesleki özellikleri neler olmalıdır?" sorusu yer almıştır. Elde edilen veriler, betimsel analiz tekniği kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre gerek 5. sınıf, gerek 8. sınıf öğrencileri, öğretmenlerin kişisel özelliklerine daha fazla vurgu yapmışlar, kişisel özelliklerine ilişkin daha fazla özellik belirtmişlerdir.Elde edilen bulgulardan 5. ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin, ideal öğretmenin sahip olması gereken mesleki özellikleri kapsamında, daha çok dersi eğlenceli duruma getiren, iyi eğitim almış ve mesleğini seven, öğrencilerine karşı duyarlı ve sınıfa hâkim olan öğretmenleri, ideal öğretmen olarak gördükleri anlaşılmıştır. 5. ve 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin ideal öğretmenin sahip olması gereken kişisel özellikler kapsamında ise daha çok anlayışlı/hoşgörülü, sabırlı, sakin ve saygılı; eleştiriye açık, aşırı disiplinli/baskıcı olamayan; güleryüzlü, eğlenceli, espirili ve neşeli, samimi/içten; çalışkan, azimli ve kararlı; disiplinli; fiziksel ve sözlü şiddet kullanmayan ve öğrencilere iyi davranan; temiz öğretmenleri ideal öğretmen olarak algıladıkları görülmüştür

The purpose of this study is to determine the perceptions of the students in primary schools concerning the qualities that an ideal teacher must have. The participants of the research conducted as based on survey method consist of 355 students from 6 primary schools which are determined by selecting two each school from the high, middle and low socio-economic schools belonging to the Ministry of National Education in 2010-2011 educational years of Eskisehir. The data was compiled by means of open-ended questionnaire. While the students were asked questions about personeal information, they were also asked to reply the following question in the questionnaire: “What should be the personal and professional qualities of an ideal teacher?”. The data compiled was analysed via descriptive analysis technique. According to the findings of the study, the students in grade 5 and 8 focused more on the personal qualities of teachers and they shared more opinions on personal qualities. According to findings, with regard to the professional qualities that the ideal teacher must have, frequently, students in grade 5 and 8 recognise the teacher who makes a lesson entertaining, be educated well, likes his/her job, be sensitive to his/her students, controls the classroom well as the ideal teacher. With regard to the personal qualities that the ideal teacher must have, frequently, students in grade 5 and 8 recognise the teacher who is receptive/tolerant, patient, calm and respectful, open to criticism, not over disciplined/oppresive; ideal humored, entertaining, humorist and cheerful, sincere and open hearted; hardworking, determined and decisive; diciplined; not tended to physical and verbal violence; treating students well and well groomed as the ideal teacher
