Use of albite wastes in stoneware glazes

Abstract

Pre- and postflotation wastes of albite can be easily utilized as a substitute for pure alkali feldspars in stoneware glazes without causing any problems in glaze maturation. Depending on the glaze constituents, different surface textures can be produced with these wastes. Although waste materials facilitate glaze maturations with their fluxing ability, they also allow development of a matte surface texture because of high rutile content.
