Effect of the Particle Size of Hard Raw Materials on Physical Properties of Sanitaryware Porcalain
Özet
Sanitaryware porcelain is a kind of a group of glassy porcelains called "vitreous china". The raw materials quartz sand and feldispar used for production of these porcelains are hard materials. It is well known that particle size distribution of powders affect the sintering behaviour, physical and mechanical properties of ceramics. However, there isn't enough study including effect of particle size distribution on the pyroplastic deformation, occurred at high temperature, in sanitaryware. Therefore, in this study the effect of the particle size distribution on the pyroplastic deformation and physical properties of sanitaryware was investigated. Different samples were prepared by using mixture of quartz and feldspar grounded with different times. Sintering behaviours and the amounts of pyroplastic deformation of porcelain bodies were investigated. With grinding of hard raw materials, 0.38% water absorption was obtained at 1210 degrees C and the pyroplastic deformation was reduced about 10%.
